The Bund is a 1.5km promenade of 1920s banking palaces — Beaux-Arts, Gothic, Art Deco — facing the neon of Pudong across the water. Walk it north to south as the floodlights hit the colonial facades around dusk, then duck up to a rooftop on the Bund No. 5 or 18 buildings for the classic postcard angle. The waterfront walkway is raised; the lower riverside path is quieter for photos.
Insider tip — For the colonial-facade shot without rail crowds, use the elevated Bund Sightseeing Platform or cross to the Pudong-side riverside promenade.
